Seasonal shifts bring renewed awareness to the things we carry with us. They tend to remind us of how our needs - both material and otherwise - change with the transitions found in nature: the lengthening or shortening of the days, fluctuations in temperature, landscapes changing in texture and color. Somehow, there seems to be one constant built into every transition - from winter to spring, from spring to summer, and so on. It can be described as the need to process the accumulated experiences, thoughts, and lessons from months past in an attempt to evolve with intention. Another way of putting it might be, simply, that something in our nature prompts us to take each new shift in season as an opportunity to re-identify and realign with the essentials. This notion is also a constant at Are Studio. As our SS19 collection sought to explore novel concepts and expressions relating to form and structure, our FW19 collection is enriched by that exploration and has been inspired to expand on similar principles. As a parallel to the concept of structure, Fall itself is often thought of as the season of renewed focus and dedication. The season of burrowing into one's craft, assembling all of winter’s necessities, and dedicating oneself to new possibilities.
To inaugurate the launch of FW19, we present to you a new silhouette which encapsulates these ideas into one succinct, essential style for Fall. The Tabla bag, available in two sizes and colorways, exists at the intersection of classic ideas from the past and the instinctual functionality of the present moment. Indeed, each size maintains a chic, minimal classicism while serving distinct functions - the smaller size is perfect for a day or night about town, while the larger version accommodates a standard laptop with ease and is a perfect travel or work week companion. A nod to the briefcases of the past (said to have originated as far back as the 1850s), it features a silver turn lock closure, one long strap that allows for easy access into the body of the bag, and a second hand strap which allows it to be held at your side.
